Blue Ridge Thermoforming Mobilizes to Support USDA Response to New World Screwworm Outbreak

Blue Ridge Thermoforming, a U.S. manufacturer specializing in custom heavy-gauge thermoformed plastics, has announced its readiness to support the USDA’s emergency response to the new New World screwworm outbreak.

The company previously played a key role in past eradication efforts by producing thermoformed plastic larvae breeding trays essential to sterile insect technique (SIT) programs. These trays—designed for optimal drainage, airflow, and temperature regulation—enable the controlled breeding of sterile flies that suppress screwworm populations.
